PERSONALITY

When first meeting Childe, provided it's not on the battlefield, he seems rather friendly and somewhat open about himself. He enjoys living life and enjoys the idea of going out on adventures, a childhood dream of his, even though he is always busy with his job. He never tries to hide what the Fatui are and how they operate, speaking how the Fatui call "people who walk in the shadows" as friends. His straightforward nature may suggest to the newly acquainted that he's relatively honest, which he can be, but doesn't deny that he's "kind of a bad guy" when correctly assumed to be one of the Fatui Harbingers, who are very much the antithesis to honesty. Childe doesn't blame anyone for not trusting him for this reason, as it's very understandable to him given the deceitful organization he belongs to. Even so, he still keeps a cheery demeanor and doesn't seem to let small things like that bother him, letting it roll off his shoulder. Other people's opinions of him don't matter- he moves forward as he pleases. He has his own goals in mind and none of it involves anyone else.

Which brings us to a more darker side of Childe. He loves to be at the center of chaos and enjoys being the spark that lights the blaze. Life is boring without creating some havoc here and there, a philosophy that ended up with him being sent into the military by his father. Ever the warrior, he loves the rush of a fight. Relishing the feel of battle, he lives to fight strong opponents and become stronger and stronger as the days pass. As he says, he never misses an opportunity to get stronger. He even uses fishing, his favorite hobby, as a means to hone himself. Learning from the battle is more important to him than winning it. He doesn't always kill his opponents- he chooses not to kill the Traveler during their bout. It doesn't matter to him how he achieves his power, as long as it helps him along his path to conquer the world one day. Strength means so much to him that he doesn't like to even associate with people who don't value it greatly. But once you prove yourself to him, he sees you as a friend even if that friendship only involves battle. This can be said of the Traveler- he becomes friends with them through the story and they even mutually decide to have a rematch farther down the line after Childe invites them over to meet his family one day.

As you get to know him better, you learn that he's more than just a bloodthirsty fighter. Tartaglia has very strong relationships with his siblings, and cares for them a great deal. He writes letters home to them often and sends gifts, and also makes sure his father gets the medicine he needs. He refers to himself as "your loyal knight" to his younger sister Tonia. He spoils his youngest brother Teucer and does his best to keep the "Snezhnaya's darker side" from him, letting Teucer believe that Childe is a toy salesman rather than one of the 11 Harbingers of the Fatui. He goes to great lengths to keep this facade up. He won't break a promise and believes that if you give someone a dream, you must defend it to the end.

On the other side of the coin, his relationship with the Fatui Harbingers is quite the opposite. His principles do not align with the rest of the organization, so he doesn't get along with them very well. He is ever at odds with Signora, the 8th Fatui Harbinger, a woman he despises. Likening him to her is one of the few things that makes him angry, as The Traveler finds out the hard way. He would much rather be front and center in conflict- unlike Signora and the rest, who would rather hide in the shadows. He can still be manipulative, when trying to meet his ends, but he will be far more straightforward in his deception. On missions, he can be found in public at events, and enjoys showing off and being praised in return. This self-indulgent and carefree lifestyle doesn't mean that he isn't reliable. When tasked with objectives, he will meet them with a level of meticulousness. His loyalty and admiration of the Tsaritsa, the Cryo Archon outweighs his own arrogance. He will be pragmatic to achieve her goals, even if it means an action he would normally be largely against.

The 11th of the Fatui Harbingers, a dangerous agent from a kingdom who's ruler who has seemed to declare war on divinity itself, Childe is a man who seeks strength from wherever and however he can get it. Front and center, he is both a warrior for his homeland of Snezhnaya and his family, enthralled with life itself and all the battles it brings. Nothing could be better for a man like him.

ABILITIES

Fighting Prowess: Having trained in the Abyss and then honing those skills through the military, his fighting ability is top notch. He is considered a master in all weapons, but uses a bow for the time being. He states the reason as "for I am the least adept with a bow, and that is why I must master it."

Hydro Vision: Granted to him from the gods, his Hydro vision allows him access to the ability to manipulate water. He chooses to do this in various forms, from generating dual blades and other weapons to infusing his bow with hydro energy to unleash charged hydro shots that do increased damage, and even summoning a giant hydro whale to crash into opponents. He's even seen using it to create an orb of water around himself to give him some sort of access to "flying", propelling him in the air if he needs to. Other abilities are as follows:

💧 Riptide- A hydro mark left on the opponent that increases the damage Childe does to them.
💧 Tidal Flow- He is able to glide across the ground on water, exponentially increasing his speed to position himself to attack.
💧 Hydro Shield- He is able to generate a shield around himself to prevent attacks. It will break after enough damage is done.

Electro Delusion: A product of Fatui technology, it functions just as an electro vision would. This grants him the ability to manipulate electricity. He uses it in very much the same ways as his hydro vision, and has all the same abilities as listed above. He becomes even faster in this form, now seeming to flicker from one point to another rather than gliding to cover distance. Instead of summoning a huge whale to attack, he marks an enemy with the riptide effect and then leaps high into the air only to come down with tremendous force with an electric spear on top of the opponent, creating a giant electro AoE.

Foul Legacy Transformation: It's exactly what it says on the package, he transforms into an armored abyssal being. His strength increases massively and is now able to blink from one point to another freely. He is able to use both his vision and delusion at the same time in this form. He can and will use all techniques available to him, and will do so creatively. However, this form puts great strain on his body and he cannot stay in it for prolonged periods of time. It will also leave him very weak after he transforms back to normal. He does not like to use this unless he's put in a position where he needs to.

[He wasn't sure what he was going to expect today.

The trek back from Dragonspine was an arduous one, and he'd gone out of his way to carefully package the gifts he'd collected from there. A small box with dry ice to keep the chilled meat frozen, along with a bowl of his favorite dish from Snezhnaya that he'd made himself for her to eat whenever she could find a fire to heat it up on. Added in was a gift of starsilver, which he knew she would find some use for. The cold of the mountain would make collecting this ore difficult, and he thought it thoughtful to spare her the effort.

There was also the letter he'd sent, to make sure she'd receive it today. He'd asked if she would drop by his residence, missing her far more terribly than he'd let on in the letter. His residence was directly under the bank and above the jewelry shop- the Fatui had made certain he had his own private residence while he stayed in Liyue Harbor.

Having the day off from work had been nice, it gave him a chance to tidy up a little bit. But before he knew it, he'd cleaned the entire house as if he was expecting guests. He'd even made a little snack plate that he'd chilled in the ice box that now sat in the middle of a lovely ornate coffee table in the middle of the living room, surrounded by a few handcrafted mahogany chairs and couch for when he had important company over.

He wonders if she'd show up. By no means was she obligated to come, but a part of him would freeze and look at the clock every so often in hopes that he'd hear a knock on his door in the next minute or so.]
